The city of Houston, particularly the Northwest Katy/Cypress area, has a very special place in Pastor Stan’s heart. Although, born in Ohio and raised in Detroit, MI, Pastor Stan was first drawn toward Houston in 2002. It wasn’t until 2007 that he felt the Holy Spirit leading him to move to Katy and open Faith Family Church.
After about a year of preparation, Pastor Stan sold a business he co-owned in Florida and made his transition to Texas. Pastor Stan served 13 years in ministry traveling both nationally and internationally, helping other churches become established, but this move was different. It was a big, bold move of faith and with no personal ties to anyone in the greater Houston area. On April 26, 2009, he started a Bible study on Sunday afternoons.
After a time of prayer and waiting on God, the vision of Faith Family Church was clear. Our first official service as a church was held on September 13, 2009 and we haven’t looked back since. Pastor Stan believes God’s vision for FFC is to grow, become great, and help others (Mark 4:30-32). Our first six years has been marked by just that, continuous growth. Every year has been better than the last, and it’s been that way since day one.
We started in a banquet hall and within 2-3 months we had our own customized area built in a retail center located on Barker Cypress Road. Upon fulfilling our five year lease, we had completely outgrown the facility. We were favored by God to enter into a joint occupancy agreement with the Fil-Am Seventh Day Adventist Church located 1.3 miles around the corner from our old facility. It is here at our current location where we see the next phase of our vision taking shape, and that is becoming great!
If you are looking for a church home for yourself and your family, Faith Family Church may be the right place for you. Your decision is one of the most important you will ever make. So take your time, pray and ask God for His clear direction, and then obey Him.
